2022 PA Arts Advocacy Day

On May 25, 2022, Citizens for the Arts in PA hosted its first Arts Advocacy Day in-person since 2019! We want to say a special “THANK YOU” to everyone who attended in person to meet with legislators and deliver information to more than 200 offices throughout the Capitol Complex!

There were many highlights on the day including the PA Arts & Culture Caucus where we heard from both the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and PA Humanities. Following the Caucus meeting, a press conference was held in the Main Rotunda, which included a performance by Victory Brinker (which can be watched here: Facebook), a welcome and delivery of our advocacy platform by executive director, Pamela Etters, messages from Caucus co-chairs Rep. R. Lee James and Rep. Tim Briggs, along with fellow Representative, and passionate arts supporter, Rep. Joe Ciresi.

Our two featured speakers came from the I’m Fine Project, Maurine Joyce and Carrie Breschi, and the Pennsylvania State Task Force for Music Therapy, Michelle Muth.

Following the press event, Maurine Joyce and Carrie Breschi led 15-20 PA high school students and their teachers through an I’m Fine workshop and the creation of masks for their traveling exhibit.
