The Internal Revenue Service has redesigned a draft of the Form 990, which many 501(c)(3) organizations file annually with the IRS. The new draft proposes significant changes to how finances, fundraising activities, governance, and compensation will be reported. Americans for the Arts is gathering feedback on the proposed changes to submit them to the IRS. Legislative Updates - August is recess month for both the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the U.S. Congress.  The U.S. House of Representatives passed their appropriations bills for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and Arts in Education programs through the U.S. Dept. of Education.  The House version of the NEA appropriation includes a $35 million increase over the current fiscal year.  The Senate will consider their appropriation bills after the August recess.  Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania will keep you posted as to the status of the NEA and Education appropriations.
