Oct. 27, 2011 - PA Senate Approves School Vouchers/EITC/Charter Bill

The Pennsylvania Senate approved Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) yesterday by a vote of 27-22.  Senate Bill 1 includes provisions for supporting the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.  This program provides tax credits to businesses that fund programs designed to augment school programs.  Many arts organizations across Pennsylvania have benefited from this program.  SB 1 includes an increase to the EITC program, bringing total tax credits awards to $100 million.  The bill now goes to the PA House of Representatives for consideration.
